About This Cichlid Variety
Originally, this fish was known as the Aulonocara stuartgranti Chipoka. But with extensive inbreeding carried out in Germany, to enhance the red color we now have what is known as the German red peacock. They are described in the literature as polygamous omnivores that are mildly aggressive. Their maximum size is 6 to 7 inches with temperature ranges between 74 and 84°F and they prefer a pH of 7.4 to 8.4. They are also maternal mouth brooders.
